SESSIONS RECOMMENDS IS OUR WEEKLY SERIES WHERE WE SIT DOWN WITH A MEMBER OF OUR TEAM FOR A 5 MINUTE CHAT ABOUT THEIR CURRENT FAVOURITE RESTAURANTS.
Becca is our Platform Director which sits at the heart of the business and connects our partners to brands. She loves fashion as well as food so you can often find her eating at Broadway market every Sunday after a morning of window shopping.
WHERE ARE YOU EATING AT THE MOMENT?
I used to live in Islington and therefore used to mooch around Upper Street because you know, mooching is amazing. I’d always have to top it off with an ice cream after that.
At one point in my life I thought I was going to move to Amsterdam and I said to myself that I must try every single one of these flavours. I made a really good start, then I didn’t move but still completed it. I’ve had all the classic ones and then just try the new ones that come in…that's 26 flavours or more I’ve had. I review every single one on my story and tag them even if I don't like them… I started this in 2021 so it's been a while.
You can submit ideas you might have for flavours of the month but then also vote for the flavours every month which I do every single month. The nicest one I actually ever had was a flavour of the month; cinnamon and oat but it hasn't made it back which is devastating.
I go for 2 small scoops because if you get 2 scoops it's ENORMOUS. You can actually also get a tub for I think £20. They're great to take for a dinner party!
My highest rated ones are the chocolate and peanut butter and then the dark chocolate and sea salt. I rated those a 9.5 and my lowest one I think I rated a 6/10 which was the salted vanilla cookie dough.
You can also get it on Deliveroo as it travels really well and their brownies are also super nice so a perfect pairing on a hangover.
OUR FAVOURITE ICE CREAM IN LONDON
Everything here is freshly made daily which means you can often find the flavours changing that often too. As predicted, you can find the Sicilian pistachio covered toasted pistachio, but look out for the specials too. Chewy rice pudding with a dusting of cinnamon, or a blood orange number that is technically a sorbet. The ricotta and dark sour cherry is a signature scoop and will always be on our table.
DISH TO TRY: Ricotta and Dark Sour Cherry
Everyone will be drawn to the classic recipes made from fresh ingredients at Oddono’s artisan lab. The classic pistachio is not to be missed. Their traditional flavours such as chocolate and hazelnut are favourites among fans, but there are also more unique options to choose from too.
DISH TO TRY: Pistachio
This one is a small, independent Gelateria in Stoke Newington, serving house-made, mostly classic Italian-inspired gelatos that really are to die for… Flavours include ricotta drizzled with sticky caramelised figs; or Biscokrok, piled high with thick chunks of chocolate biscuit. They also offer a range of sorbets, including their extra dark chocolate, deserving of all its hype.
DISH TO TRY: Black Cherry Praline
There is FINALLY a London shop for this Italian favourite gelato shop. Back in Italy there are around 60 shops... There are classic flavours of pistachio, chocolate, coffee and stracciatella, as well as the signature crema di Grom (pastry cream with Meliga biscuits and chocolate pieces). All the ingredients are natural, and the mango sorbet is to die for.
DISH TO TRY: Mango Sorbet
